Record Gambling Revenue Reached in Pennsylvania with November Sports Betting and iGaming Surge
Pennsylvania’s gambling market achieved record-breaking revenue in November 2024, driven by record highs in sports betting and iGaming. The state’s total revenue reached $562.4 million, surpassing last year’s figures by 26.5% and exceeding October’s numbers by 13.3%.
Sports Betting Revenue Hits New Highs
Sports betting stood out as the key contributor, with gross revenue reaching $77.1 million—an impressive 498.4% increase compared to November 2023. This figure also surpasses the previous record of $72.5 million set in December 2023 by 6.3%. Online betting contributed $71.7 million, while retail sportsbooks added $5.4 million.
The total sports betting handle hit $935.5 million, edging past the prior record of $934.1 million from November 2023. Online wagering accounted for $886.5 million of the total handle, while retail facilities generated $49.0 million. November’s statewide hold stood at 7.75%.
FanDuel Leads the Market
FanDuel, in partnership with Valley Forge Casino Resort, maintained its market dominance with $36.8 million in gross revenue from $373.6 million in bets, achieving a 9.85% hold.
DraftKings, partnered with Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, followed with $21.5 million in gross revenue from $246.2 million in wagers, reflecting an 8.73% hold. Other key players included BetMGM, ESPN Bet, and BetRivers.
iGaming Revenue Tops $200 Million
The iGaming segment also set a new record with $200.5 million in revenue, up 26.9% year-over-year. Online slots generated $148.7 million, representing a 36.0% increase, while online table games contributed $49.6 million. Online poker revenue slightly declined, reaching $2.3 million.
Hollywood Casino at Penn National led the iGaming sector, reporting $74.4 million in revenue, followed by Valley Forge Casino at $54.1 million and Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $34.7 million.
Land-Based Slots Still Lead in Revenue
Land-based slot machines remained a significant revenue driver, bringing in $201.5 million, a 6.2% year-over-year increase. However, revenue from retail table games dropped 2.5% to $77.6 million, while video game terminals and fantasy sports saw declines of 4.4% and 4.2%, respectively.
State Tax Revenue Reaches $232.8 Million
Pennsylvania collected $232.8 million in tax revenue from gambling activities in November. Physical slot machines contributed $101.5 million, while table games added $12.9 million.
