BC.Game Withdraws Curaçao Licence Amid Regulatory Challenges
BC.Game, a prominent iGaming platform, has officially withdrawn its operating licence from Curaçao. The decision reflects ongoing difficulties in navigating the region’s regulatory framework and underscores the company’s commitment to more robust international compliance standards.
The company originally acquired its Curaçao licence earlier this year under the National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK), a relatively new regulatory structure aimed at modernising the gaming sector in the region. However, BC.Game cited persistent challenges stemming from outdated legal protections, including Curaçao’s bankruptcy laws, which date back to 1931.
Efforts to reform iGaming legislation in Curaçao have been underway, but the platform described the current environment as increasingly unsupportive for operators. These regulatory hurdles prompted the company’s decision to relinquish its licence.
Despite this move, BC.Game’s global operations remain unaffected. The platform holds multiple licences in other jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with international standards and uninterrupted service for its users.
Company Statement:
A spokesperson for BC.Game stated that this decision aligns with the platform’s broader strategy to enhance user security and adapt to more modern regulatory frameworks. “We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and providing a secure environment for our users worldwide,” the company said.
The withdrawal of the Curaçao licence marks a significant step in BC.Game’s strategic efforts to build a more sustainable operational foundation. This development also sheds light on the broader challenges operators face in regions with outdated regulatory systems.
